Azata Golf Estepona, Costa del Sol

The Costa del Sol is set to have a new golf course with the opening of the Azata golf club in Estepona.

The course which is almost ready for its scheduled opening in January 2020, will be located opposite the new Estepona hospital in the heart of the Costa del Sol.

The Azata course will be the latest edition to the coast’s golfing fraternity and will be the first course to be built in the last 10 years.

Designed by Stirling and Martin, the course will be an 18 hole par 71 and will be “very nice to play” according to Managing Director, Agustín Alonso.

Alonso stresses that there will be hardly any ravines in comparison to other courses on the coast and will ultimately mean fewer lost balls. As an added bonus, the course will be perfectly playable without the need of a buggy.

The Azata course will feature a slightly longer front nine holes with wide, generous fairways and large fast undulating greens.

There will be a number of wonderful and challenging holes to take on including the signature par 3, 15th hole, which is almost set on an island and surrounded by water.

Other holes on the course also feature water with the Vaquero river flowing alongside holes 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 along with a lake at holes 1 and 5. All of the holes at the course will offer stunning views to the Mediterranean and Sierra Bermeja mountains.

Facilities at the Azata course will be first-class and include a clubhouse, 220 metre 35 bay driving range, restaurant, pro-shop, golf academy and practice area.

Pricing at the course is expected to be around the mid-range mark with a round of golf costing 65 Euros in high-season and 50 Euros low-season. Monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual subscriptions will also be available for those who wish to become members.

Azata golf are keen to promote golf among youngsters so have adhered to the Andalucian Golf Federation’s program for junior players offering discounts on everything at the club.

So what are you waiting for? Get along to the new Azata course in January and be one of the first to experience the delights on offer at the Costa del Sol’s newest golf course.
