Golf Courses
Campo Asia
The oldest of the three La Cala Resort courses, formerly known as the South Course, is now called Campo Asia. Cabell Robinson, the renowned golf course designer, is said to have designed this course about 15 years ago.
Despite its length of just 5,925m, the relatively hilly and narrow Asia course is a challenging test for golfers of all skill levels. The course has numerous challenging holes, with a primary emphasis on hitting your approach shot accurately, as many of the greens are small and well-protected by bunkers.
The approach shots to the elevated greens, which are well-bunkered with water coming into play on a few holes, are particularly demanding. This par 72 course, with stunning views throughout, is an impressive challenge for golfers seeking a memorable round of golf.
Campo America
Originally known as the North Course, Campo America was opened shortly after the Campo Asia course.
With a total of 5 par 5 holes and a length of 6,009 meters, Campo America is a par 72 course that offers a great challenge for golfers of all levels. While there are no water traps on this course, golfers need to be careful as the fairways have many grunkle-covered slide slopes that can cause trouble.
Among the five par 5s, the 1st, 9th, and 15th holes have wide and relatively unprotected fairways, making them reachable in two shots. However, golfers need to hit accurate approach shots as most of the greens are elevated.
Campo Europa
Campo Europa is the third course at La Cala Resort, having opened its doors in 2005. This par 71 course measures 6,014 meters and is considered easier than the America and Asia courses due to its wide fairways, spacious greens, and mostly flat terrain.
Course designer Cabell Robinson stresses the difference between the three courses: “The three courses in La Cala Resort are all very different in character. The new course is the most different of the three because of the river Ojen – the others are in the hills. They are three good challenges and none is over long. Yet they are all very different in character. It gives a great option to golfers to have three 18-hole courses to choose from.”
