The Desert Springs Golf Resort is located in the Almanzora region of Almeria, in south-east Spain.
It is Europe’s only international award-winning family leisure resort with exclusive luxury homes that are set beside the emerald green fairways of a very unique and stunning championship desert golf course.
With a choice of three international airports, Almeria, Murcia and Alicante, the Desert Springs Resort is easily accessible and is only a 2 hour 30-minute flight from the UK.
Set high on a plateau with stunning panoramic views over the Almanzora valley towards the Mediterranean and surrounding mountains, there is something quite rare and special about the light and ambience of the perfectly maintained desert parkland, the largest rock and cactus garden in Europe.
The resort’s location means you can enjoy the unique desert climate, stunning scenery, great food, sandy beaches while experiencing some of Spain’s finest accommodation including luxury apartments, townhouses and villas.
When you’re not playing golf, there are plenty of other activities for you to enjoy within the resort.
The Sierra Sports and Fitness Club provides a wide range of indoor and open-air sports and fitness facilities including an Aerobics Gymnasium, with state of the art equipment, swimming pool, jogging tracks, tennis courts, padel tennis court, beach volleyball court, 5-a-side football pitch and mountain bikes.
The fitness club is the Spanish home to double Olympic Gold medallist Daley Thompson, who is on hand to give training sessions to those looking to kick start their fitness.
Once you have worked up a thirst and appetite, head to one of the four restaurants and bars or enjoy private dining in The Cave Bar, an original but refurbished cave which has a really cool bar area.

The Indiana Course
The par 72 Indiana Golf Course was designed by golf course architect Peter McEvoy, who for many years was a leading British amateur golfer himself.
The course design was inspired by the famous desert courses of Arizona and California and is the first desert course in Europe.
Built to the full USGA specifications and quality standards of these desert courses, it is now famous for the high quality of golf that it offers.
With its immaculate fairways that are set among huge rocky outcrops, arroyos and dry rivers, the colourful contrast of the ‘desert springs’ and the emerald green fairways with the dry landscape of cactus, rock and flowering desert is simply stunning, no matter what time of the year you play.
Course designer Peter McEvoy sums it up quite nicely…”We have created a course which really can be enjoyed by players of all different standards, we have kept the fairways generous and ensured that the less expert player can enjoy and improve his game whilst absorbing the awesome landscape and views that encompass The Indiana. On the other hand, every hole has features which can be brought into play; the springs, watercourses, dry river beds, rock and cactus areas and bunkers are strategically located to examine the skills of golf’s leading players when playing off the championship tees.“
